Andrea Leof, VMD
Dr. Andrea Leof received a VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation she began working with the Women's SPCA in Philadelphia. Dr. Leof was the first associate to join Dr. Kearse at the Animals' Hospital in May of 1994. She continues to work for the hospital four days a week seeing patients. Dr. Leof especially likes meeting new "toodlets" puppies and kittens and watching them grow into adults. In addition to pediatrics, Dr. Leof also has a special interest in feline medicine. She has the ability to teach and educate both the staff and our clients on a daily basis and the hospital would not be the same without her.
Eric J. Matkowski, VMD
Dr. Eric Matkowski joined the Animals' Hospital of Levittown team in May 2013. For his undergraduate studies, Dr. Matkowski attended Clemson University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences. He then attended MCP-Hahnemann University (now part of Drexel University) earning a Master's degree in Research Sciences. Afterward, he enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine and received a Veterinary Medicine Doctorate in 2004. During his time in veterinary school, he was named Class Vice President.
Dr. Matkowski has interests in all aspects of canine and feline medicine and surgery and particularly enjoys helping educate clients in caring for their furry friends. He has three rescue dogs, Marcel, Two and Linny Lou, along with one rescue cat, Angel.
Becky Pigsley, DVM
Dr. Becky Pigsley joined the Animals' Hospital of Levittown team in April 2012. She grew up in Lincoln, NE, but now lives in Lansdale, PA. Dr. Pigsley completed undergraduate studies at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2004 before earning a DVM degree from Kansas State University in 2008. Previously, she practiced at Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital and Banfield the Pet Hospital. She has a special interest in feline medicine.
In her free time, Dr. Pigsley enjoys reading, knitting, watching movies, and spending time with friends. She also has two beloved cats, Reese and Simon. Dr. Pigsley has received a very warm welcome by both the staff and clients and says, "As I continue my career here, I look forward to meeting more of you and your pets. The Animal's Hospital has such a great family atmosphere and I hope that I can help continue that tradition."
Kelly Caldwell, DVM
Dr. Kelly Caldwell joined the Animals' Hospital of Levittown team in August 2013. She completed her undergraduate work at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN in 2000, earning degrees in Veterinary Technology and Veterinary Science. After earning a DVM degree from the University of Tennessee, she moved to Raleigh, NC and worked in small animal private practice for five years before moving to Valdosta, GA. While there, she provided relief veterinary services to multiple veterinary hospitals in the surrounding areas. Her special interests include dermatology, dentistry, and internal medicine.
In her spare time, Dr. Caldwell enjoys reading, refinishing old furniture, exploring the area with her husband, and relaxing at home with all her four-legged friends. She has two dogs – "Jim" and "Fifa," as well as three very large cats – "Beck," "Chaz," and "Spot." A few fish, a tarantula, and three fire-bellied toads round out the menagerie.
Dr. Caldwell looks forward to working with the friendly members of the hospital team and getting to know the clients and pets, both established and new, at the Animals' Hospital of Levittown.
Rachel E. Palis, DVM
Dr. Rachel E. Palis grew up in Rochester, NY and currently resides in Philadelphia, PA. She received an undergraduate degree from Arcadia University in 2010 and earned a DVM degree from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Prior to joining The Animals’ Hospital of Levittown team, Dr. Palis practiced at Town and Country Vet Clinic in Potsdam, NY. Her special interests include surgery, behavior, and exotics.
Now that Dr. Palis lives near a much bigger city, she is hoping to pick up new hobbies and bring back old ones. However, some of her favorites include reading, hiking and running with her dogs, paddle boarding, photography, and traveling to new places. She also has five wonderful rescue animals, two dogs named Diego (from St. Kitts) and Harlo (from Louisiana), and three cats named Feisty (the queen B), Rowdy (the three-legged cuddly wonder) and Shitten aka “the floof” (name is self-explanatory).
Dr. Palis is excited to join the amazing team at AHL and get to know my clients and all of their wonderful pets.
